About Intermedite Reading Writing
There are three stages in the curricullum - beginning, intermediate and and advanced - and each stage consists of three levels of achievement, low to high. The focus has been on promoting active rather than passive readers and writers through the practice of reading, summarizing, sharing, and reflecting through responding both orally and in written form. Each text consists of two themes that provide the learner with numerous 1) promote active reading 2) enhance critical thinking 3) increase reading comprehension, including understanding vocabulary in context 4) stimulate discussion and reflection 5) develop summary/response skills, orally and written 6) develop more effective written communication, including learning rhetorical styles and editing for incorrect use of grammar structures and mechanics 7) grow organizational thought.
